<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layer-2 switch for easily identifying a defective point without use of particular hardware such as a packet capture device or the like in identifying the defective point even when an error is detected in the data section of packet. <P>SOLUTION: The layer-2 switch 1 connected to the same network as that of the management object layer-2 switch 2 for management of the management object layer-2 switch 2 includes a management table 14 to which address information and data pattern information of the management object layer-2 switch 2 are registered, a generating means 131 for generating a test packet on the basis of the address information and data pattern information on the management table 14, a transmitting means 12 for transmitting a test packet generated by the generating means 131 to the management object layer-2 switch 2, and a determining means 132 for determining normality of the data section of the test packet when a response is received from the management object layer-2 switch 2 for the test packet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
