The carrier system (1) has a beam-type center part (2) with end parts (5, 6) at its ends (3, 4). A carriage can travel parallel to the longitudinal axis of the center part. A gap is made in the center part for a belt moving synchronously with the functional element. The carriage is movable by the belt transmitting traction forces to it from sectors on opposite sides of functional element.
