Method for the automatic configuration of the display of parameters for machine tools or production machines

The method involves comparing an actual machine topology with stored desired machine topologies. A dedicated parameterizing surface for the actual topology is generated from the determined actual topology, if the actual topology does not match one of desired topologies. Only parameters and/or functions of identified machine components are displayed to a user for parametrizing a controller. An Independent claim is also included for a data network for connecting machine components of a machine.
