A photoneutron conversion target (4) and a photoneutron X-ray source using said photoneutron conversion target (4) for producing a photoneutron (6) and a X-ray synchronously is disclosed. Said photoneutron X-ray source comprises: a X-ray generator for producing a X-ray main beam (3); a photoneutron conversion target (4) for producing a photoneutron (6) by bombarding said photoneutron conversion target (4) with said X-ray main beam (3), said photoneutron conversion target (4) has a body (401) and a channel (404) defined by said body (401), said channel (404) run through said body (401); wherein, a first X-ray beam (405) of said X-ray main beam (3) could transmit through said channel (404) without reacting with said body (401), at the same time, a second X-ray beam (406) of said X-ray main beam (3) could enter said body (401) and react with said body (401) for producing said photoneutron (6).
