An image guided surgery system is disclosed that includes a position detection system which measures the position of a surgical instrument and displays the surgical instrument in its corresponding position in a CT-image or an MRI-image. The position detection system is provided with an indicator system which shows a region for which the position detection system is sensitive. Preferably, the camera unit of the position detection system incorporates at least two cameras and two semiconductor lasers for emitting separate laser beams that intersect and generate a visible marker within the region, each of the semiconductor lasers being mounted on the camera unit such that each of the laser beams substantially track the optical axis of each camera. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009 |
