PURPOSE:To improve a good directivity by bringing closely dielectric plates, which face a part where the first and second inner conductors are close to each other, into contact with outer conductors and making the effect of wavelength reduction of dielectric substrates in the even mode greater than that in the odd mode to reduce the difference of phase speed between both modes. CONSTITUTION:Outer conductors 4 are arranged on both sides of a dielectric substrate 3 of a coupler a prescribed length apart from each other and in parallel with each other, and the first and second inner conductors 1 and 2 where pairs of strip conductors 1a and 1b and strip conductors 2a and 2b are formed respectively area arranged on both faces of the substrate 3. These inner conductors 1 and 2 are made parallel with each other for a prescribed length. Dielectric plates 6 facing the part where inner conductors 1 and 2 are close to each other are brought closely into contact with outer conductors 4. The effect of wavelength reduction of dielectric plates 6 in the even mode is made greater than that in the odd mode to reduce the difference of phase speed between even and odd modes, thus improving the directivity of the coupler.
