<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting sheet for copper, which is produced by an electrolytic method, has an electrodeposition face formed so as to show adequate perpendicularity and can improve quality and productivity of electrolytic copper to be a product, and to provide a production method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The starting sheet 10 for copper is inserted into an electrolytic cell and makes copper electrodeposited on the electrodeposition face 4. The starting sheet 10 includes a starting sheet body 1 having the electrodeposition face 4. The starting sheet body 1 is produced by an electrolytic method, and has a sheet thickness (t) of 1.4 mm to 1.8 mm.
