PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic equipment capable of effectively suppressing the power consumption of a remote control device low by taking the possibility that a position detecting function is used into consideration. SOLUTION: The electronic equipment has a broadcast receiver 1 and the remote control device 2 for remotely operating the broadcast receiver 1. The broadcast receiver 1 has a remote control signal reception unit 19 and a position signal detection signal transmission unit 18 which transmits a position detection signal. Further, the remote control device 2 has a remote-control side operation unit 21 for operating the broadcast receiver 1, a remote control signal transmission unit 23, a position detection signal reception unit 24 which is supplied with prescribed electric power to receive the position detection signal, a notification unit 25 which gives notice of the position of the remote control device 2, an electric power supply unit 26 which supplies the prescribed electric power to the position detection signal reception unit 24, and a remote-control side control unit 22 which makes the electric power supply unit 26 supply the prescribed electric power. The remote-control side control unit 22 stops the electric power supply unit 26 from supplying the prescribed electric power when the remote-control side operation unit 21 is operated.
