Veterinary compositions for the treatment or prevention of coccidiosis in economically useful animals comprise an animal feed or drinking supply containing, per 100 parts by weight, from 0.001 to 1.0 parts by weight of 4-sulphanil-amido-2,6-dimethoxy-pyrimidine ("sulpha-dimethoxine"), or an acceptable salt thereof. The invention also relates to a premix concentrate comprising a basic animal feedstuff and from 12.5% to 25% by weight of the said active ingredient, and to a method of providing the said animals free from or resistant to coccidiosis by administering the feed or drinking supply. The drinking supply consists of the appropriate quantity of active ingredient in either an aqueous dispersion of a surface active agent and emulsifier and/or a solubilizer, or a vegetable oil which may include these latter additives. Examples are given for a feed, which also includes trace elements, methionine, choline, and vitamins; for a premix of the active agent with soybean flour and for the treatment of chickens, hens, beef cattle, sheep and swine with feeds or drinking supplies according to the invention. |
