<p>A pump for medical applications comprises >=1 hollow space defined by an elastic wall with a conveying element fitted with an inlet and an outlet for the medium to be pumped; a support for the conveying element; and a motor-driven pumping element adapted to periodically exert a pressure onto the wall of the conveying element, such pressure impinging on the support, the conveying direction. The pump is used in blood transfusion, for enteral and parenteral feeding, in infusion soln. techniques. The claimed device is relatively small, can be easily handled and requires little servicing. There is no risk of any parts coming into contact with the pumped matl. becoming contaminated or non-sterile.</p> |
