PURPOSE:To epoxy resin composition that is composed of a dicyclopentadiene resin and an epoxy resin, thus improving resistance to water and salt water without any adverse effect on the inherent properties of the epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:Said composition comprises (A) 5 - 70 parts by wt of a resin or its hydrogenation product with an average molecular weight of 300 - 2,000 that is prepared by the reaction between 100 parts of at least one selected from the group consisting of cyclopetadiene, dicyclopentadiene, their alkyl-substituted derivatives and their Diels-Alder adducts and 5 - 100 parts of at least one selected from mono- and polyhydroxy phenols or their alkyl-substituted derivatives and (B) 95 - 30 parts by wt of an epoxy resin. The alkyl-substituted derivative preferably has 1 - 3C alkyl groups and an example is methyldicyclopentadiene. EFFECT:Said composition permits also bright coloring differing from tar-epoxy resin composition, which can give only dark coloring. |
