The clamping ring is for flanged unions, particularly small ones with elastomer seals. It comprises two or more clamping members, together with a locking mechanism comprising a clamping lever and a spring component. To allow a large amount of spring movement, the spring component (11) is bent sharply in the plane of the clamping ring. It can be semicircular or can extend through an angle of 80 to 140, preferably 120 deg. It can be in the form of a U-shaped stirrup, with its arms (14,15) attached to one of the members (2), while the transverse portion (16) between the arms hinges in the clamping lever (12).
