PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor capable of detecting CO in a combustible gas with high sensitivity by providing a partition of solid electrolyte having a couple of electrodes on each surface of the partition to separate the inside of a ceramic cylinder into two chambers in the longitudinal direction, and packing a specified oxidation catalyst in each chamber respectively. CONSTITUTION:A stepped part 11 is provided on the inner circumference of a ceramic cylinder 6 made of alumina, steatite etc., and the cylinder 6 is partitioned into two chambers in the longitudinal direction by a solid electrolyte partition 7 consisting of ZrO2 and Y2O3. The partition 7 is joined to the cylinder 6 with an inorganic adhesive or the like. Pt electrodes 2, 2 are formed on both surfaces of the partition 7 by vacuum deposition or the like, and Au lead wires 5, 5 are connected. An oxidation catalyst for a combustible gas contg. CO consisting of Al2O3 with Pt adhered thereto is packed into one chamber, and an oxidation catalyst for a combustible gas other than CO consisting of SnO2 etc. is packed into the other chamber. Both ends of the cylinder 6 are sealed with porous ceramic plates 3, 3' consisting of alumina, etc. A heating wire 4 is wound around the outer surface of the cylinder 6, and the sensor selectively highly sensitive to CO is obtained. |
