Crank-case gases are drawn into the Venturi section of carburetter 14 via a chamber 44 and a tube 56. The downstream end 58 of the tube is cut obliquely so that at high engine speeds, when the Venturi suction is high, the ram effect of the air flow impinging on the oblique end 58 reduces the suction transmitted to the crank-case and prevents excessive withdrawal of gases therefrom. The inlet to the crank-case breather pipe, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), faces the engine cooling fan so that the crank-case is slightly pressurized. Instead of the tube 56, a portion of the carburetter wall may be cut to form a tab which is bent inwardly to form an arcuate opening facing upstream, Fig. 6 (not shown).</p> |
