PURPOSE:To prevent the mutual entanglement of hollow yarns and to enhance backwashing effect by imparting proper vibration at the time of backwashing, by fixing upper and lower ends of hollow yarns of an individual module to tube plates and opening the upper ends thereof while closing the lower ends thereof and connecting both tube plates by a support. CONSTITUTION:A hollow yarn upper tube plate 21 is inserted in the opening of a tube plate 20 to be fixed by a bolt 25 and a holding plate 24 so as to hold a gasket 23 between said tube plate 21 and the holding plate 24 while a hollow yarn lower tube plate 27 is supported by the lower end of the support 26 attached to the center of the upper tube plate 21 and hollow yarns 28 are provided under tension between the upper and lower tube pates 21, 27 and the lower ends of the yarns 28 are closed by an adhesive. Water is passed through each yarn 28 from the outside to the inside thereof to apply filtering action. By providing the support at the center of the hollow yarn bundles, the mutual entanglement of the hollow yarn bundles can be prevented and, if slackening is imparted to the hollow yarns by regulating the length of the support so as to make the same slightly shorter than that of the hollow yarns, the hollow yarns vibrate properly at the time of backwashing and backwashing effect is enhanced.
