PURPOSE:To accomplish sure catching of the leading edge of a recording sheet throughout its width by sending out recording sheet, when chucking is to be made, until its leading edge attains a chucking pawl of a platen, and further paying off the sheet by a certain specified amount. CONSTITUTION:This device includes recording means 9, 10, a platen 80, a chucking pawl 14 installed at the platen 80 to chuck the leading edge of record ing sheet 40, and a feed roller 5 to feed the recording sheet 40 toward the platen 80. Further the sheet 40 is fed by the feed roller 6, and the leading edge is chucked by said chucking pawl 14, and an image is formed while the platen 80 is rotated. Associate with a control circuit, a reflex type photo-sensor 12 is provided, which emits a sensing signal when the leading edge attains the chucking pawl 14, while a control means is furnished which controls the feed roller 5 so as to send out the recording sheets 40 for a certain time after emis sion of said sensing signal.
