<p>A suspension device [100; 200; 300; 400; 500; 600] in a motor vehicle has at least one component [11; 12] separate from a damper [D] and to which vertical movement of a road wheel [1] can be transmitted. The component [11; 12] comprises a resilient member [11; 12] supported on a vehicle body [9, 22, 21, B] at a portion spaced from another portion [A] operatively coupled to the road wheel [1], for giving vertically resiliency to the road wheel [1]. The suspension device [100; 200; 300; 400; 500; 600] also has a counteracting load mechanism [31; 331] for applying a counteracting load [F] variable dependent to an amount [V] of flexing of a section [B - B] of the component [11; 12] caused by vertical movement of the road wheel [1]. The suspension device [500; 600] further includes a vehicle height adjusting mechanism [501] operatively coupled to the counteracting load means [31] for varying a static counteracting load [F0] of the counteracting load mechanism [31] when the motor vehicle is at rest, to vertically displace the section [B - B] of the component [11; 12] for adjusting the height of the motor vehicle.</p> |
