PREPARATION OF BENTONITE MUD WATER USING SEA WATER

PURPOSE:To obtain a bentonite mud water using sea water by a method in which the surfaces of bentonite powder particles are brought into contact with a non-electrolytic solution in advance. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of bentonite powder particles in dry state are brought into contact with a small amount of non-electrolytic solution in advance. In such a way swelling, dispersing, and colloidal forming effect are accelerated. The bentonite powder so treated is mixed with a great amount of sea water with stirring to prepare a bentonite mud water. The use of sea water can thus be permitted in sites where fresh water is hardly available.
