The ball and socket coupling is for a vehicle trailer in which a fastening flange (12) is fixed to the upper side of the coupling housing with a locking rod (11) attached to a handle (10). In the locking position the rod supports the ball socket (6) at its rear side beneath the bolt (8) such that the locking rod is automatically swivelled in the direction of the fastening flange. USE/ADVANTAGE - Coupling for a trailer or caravan which remains firmly engaged when subject to sudden large loads, especially when braking.
