<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring sludge by which sludge contributing to decomposition of organic matter or a malodorous component can be evaluated quickly and objectively and to provide a system for monitoring and controlling sludge. <P>SOLUTION: The method for monitoring sludge is characterized in that an IR spectrum of the sludge is measured, the sludge is monitored by judging whether the measured IR spectrum has peaks at around 900, around 2,000 and around 3,700 wave numbers (cm<SP>-1</SP>) and the ratio of the absorbancy of the peak of around 2,000 wave number to that of the peak of around 3,700 wave number is within 40-70%. It is preferable that when the ratio of the absorbancy of the peak of around 2,000 wave number to that of the peak of around 3,700 wave number is not within 40-70%, the sludge is modified by humus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
