PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the consumption of electric power and to make an image and character easily visible. SOLUTION: The information display device includes a display element 60, a plurality of LEDs 70 of a first irradiation section, a plurality of the LEDs 70 of a second irradiation section, a third irradiation section, a case 66, an ambient light monitor section 54, and a controller 62. The plurality of the LEDs 70 of the first irradiation section is disposed adjacently to the third irradiation section and irradiates both ends of a display surface of the display element 60 with the light from a crosswise direction of the display surface. The plurality of the LEDs 70 of the second irradiation section and the third irradiation section irradiate the central part of the display surface with the light from the crosswise direction of the display surface. The ambient light monitor section 54 detects the luminance of the outside of the case 66. The controller 62 controls the plurality of the LEDs 70 of the third irradiation section and the first irradiation section and the plurality of the LEDs 70 of the second irradiation section based on the luminance detected by the ambient light monitor section 54.
