PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance resolution in an entire beam current region by preventing an electron emitted from a cathode from colliding with a cathode structure, in a cathode ray tube device using a field emission type cathode. SOLUTION: An electron gun 45 is equipped with the cathode to emit electron beams and a plurality of electrodes to focus the emitted electron beams. The cathode is a field emission type cathode equipped with a plurality of electron emitting electrodes and a gate electrode in which a plurality of openings surrounding them are formed respectively. This cathode ray tube device is also equipped with a means to prevent the electron beams from colliding with the cathode irrespective of a beam current. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
