PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ethylenic resin coated metal wire having high-degree environmental stress crack resistance along with the strong adhesiveness of a metal core wire and an ethylenic resin, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the ethylenic resin coated metal wire composed of the metal core wire, an adhesive layer and the ethylenic resin layer, the ethylenic resin (A) is composed of 30-55 mass% of high density polyethylene (A1) with an MFR of 3-35 g/10 min and a density of 0.95-0.97 g/cm<SP>3</SP>and 70-45 mass% of a 6-12C straight chain low density ethylene/α-olefin copolymer (A2) with a polydispersity (Mw/Mn) of 3-10, an MFR of 0.1-35 g/10 min and a density of 0.88-0.94 g/cm<SP>3</SP>, and an adhesive (B) constituting the adhesive layer and the ethylenic resin (A) are formed and applied to the metal core wire (C) by a coextrusion molding method.
