PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire whose durability is enhanced to a large extent by suppressing greatly the stiffness difference at both ends of a belt layer 24 in the width direction. SOLUTION: A reinforcing layer 32 consisting of two reinforcing plies 33 where a non-elongating reinforcing element inclining in the opposite direction to the tire equator is embedded, is arranged so that the outer extremity 38 of the reinforcing layer 32 is positioned on the outside in the width direction more than the radially directed line K passing the tread end 39, and therefore the stiffness difference at the belt end shifts to the outer extremity 38 of the reinforcing layer 32. Therein the tire thickness is small and the rotation radius is small at the outer extremity 38 of the reinforcing layer 32, which reduces the strain generated in the neighborhood of the outer extremity 38 owing to the centrifugal force.
