PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method or the like for more readily assaying an activity of inhibiting anaerobic glycolysis system possessed by a material. SOLUTION: The method for assaying the activity of inhibiting the anaerobic glycolysis system possessed by the material comprises (1) a first step for bringing a test material into contact with a cultured cell having deficiency of a mitochondrial DNA, (2) a second step for measuring the survival rate of the cultured cell after the first step, and (3) a third step for evaluating the presence or absence, or the degree or amount of the activity of inhibiting the anaerobic glycolysis system of the material based on the difference obtained by comparing the survival rate measured at the second step with the survival rate in a control.
