PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable image formation by normal printing having a plurality of paths and image formation by inserting a CD-R or the like from a paper discharge side. SOLUTION: The recorder is provided with a carrying roller for performing the sub-scanning of a material to be recorded, a plurality of paper feed passages provided on the upstream side of the carrying roller, a paper feed passage switching means for switching the plurality of paper feed passages, and an exclusive passage for special material to be recorded for carrying from the downstream side of the carrying roller, wherein the paper feed passage switching means is provided with a cutout shape in its width direction.
