<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode driving device capable of achieving fast driving by speeding up the rise and fall of an optical output waveform to improve response characteristics relative to temperature changes or the like and achieve an optical output waveform that has a small overshoot, and to provide an optical transmission device equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting diode driving device 10 for driving an LED comprises a drive pulse generation circuit 20 for generating an LED drive current Idriv based on a drive pulse signal Vin inputted from the outside, and a differentiating circuit 30 for generating a peaking current Ipeak that is obtained by differentiating the drive pulse signal Vin. An LED current Iled, which is equal to the sum of the drive current Idriv and the peaking current Ipeak, flows to the LED.
