<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily recognize original size acquired by an image forming apparatus in the image forming apparatus having a copy function. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with light sources 5 (5<SB>X1</SB>, 5<SB>X2</SB>, ..., 5<SB>X8</SB>and 5<SB>Y1</SB>, 5<SB>Y2</SB>, 5<SB>Y3</SB>, 5<SB>Y4</SB>) which emit light rays from a surface opposite to an original placed surface of an original platen 2 from one apex of the original platen 2.
