Fluid conditioning apparatus with an inlet (5), an outlet (7a), and a cavity (8). Three or more rotors (11, 13, 15) are rotatable in the cavity. Each rotor has teeth and recesses. The intermediate rotor(s) (13) is/are arranged such that the teeth of the intermediate rotor(s) are received in the recesses of two adjacent rotors. A magnet is provided in at least the intermediate rotor or in at least one of the intermediate rotors. At least a majority of fluid entering through the inlet travels at least partly around the circumference of the first rotor (11), around at least a major part of the circumference of the intermediate rotor (13) or around at least a major part of the circumference of at least one intermediate rotor containing a magnet, and at least partly around the circumference of the last rotor (15), before exiting through the outlet (7).
