PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor, the method characterized in that a concentration gradient such as a lower concentration of a charge transporting substance in the surface side than in the substrate side is decreased and the charge transporting substance can be more uniformly distributed, and that by using a supercritical fluid and/or a subcritical fluid of a substance which is gas at normal temperature and normal pressure, a residual solvent is replaced by the permeated supercritical fluid and/or subcritical fluid and the residual solvent can be removed because the supercritical fluid and/or subcritical fluid replacing the residual solvent vaporizes when the temperature and pressure are returned to normal, and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor and an image forming apparatus obtained by the above method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer on a conductive support includes a step of bringing the photosensitive layer into contact with a supercritical fluid and/or a subcritical fluid containing at least a charge transporting substance.
