PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke detector for an electron beam irradiation device, capable of enhancing safety by stopping automatically the electron beam irradiation device in an initial stage when generating smoke by overheating of a constitutive component. SOLUTION: This electron beam irradiation device of the present invention includes branch pipes 2-1, 2-2 provided respectively along a direction orthogonal to an exhaust pipe 1 in a prescribed position of the exhaust pipe 1, an inspection hole 3 made of a transparent resin provided respectively in open end parts of the branch pipes 2-1, 2-2, a luminous energy sensor 4 comprising a light emitting part 4a provided in the vicinity of an outer circumference in one side of the inspection hole 3, and having a photoreception part 4b provided in the vicinity of the outer circumference in the other side of the inspection hole 3, and an amplifier unit 5 for stopping automatically the electron beam irradiation device by outputting an automatic stopping signal to the electron beam irradiation device, when the detected luminous energy of the luminous energy sensor 4 received by the photoreception part 4b after emitted from the light emitting part 4a and passed through an inside of the exhaust pipe 1 gets to a stopping set value or less corresponding to the time of the smoke generation caused by the overheating of the constitutive component in the electron beam irradiation device.
