An accident recording apparatus for calibrating a sensor and a method for compensating the sensor are provided to mount an acceleration sensor on a camera toward the front surface of a vehicle, so that the frequency of the calibration of the acceleration sensor is reduced. An accident recording apparatus includes a camera part(100), a body part(200), and a wireless/wire interface(300). The camera part includes a camera(110) and an acceleration sensor(120). The acceleration sensor is mounted on the camera to detect the acceleration of a vehicle. The body part processes an input signal received from the camera part to store driving information of the vehicle. The wireless/wire interface supports wireless/wire communication between the camera part and the body part.
