<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an omnidirectional reflector which can overcome conventional faults, and to provide a light-emitting device equipped with it. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device comprises a light-emitting unit 51 emitting primary light in a first wavelength range, a wavelength conversion member 4 coupled with the light-emitting unit 51 and converting a part of primary light into secondary light of second wavelength range, and at least one omnidirectional reflector 6 consisting of an omnidirectional photonic crystal coupled with the wavelength conversion member 4 and receiving the remaining portion of the secondary light and the primary light which is not converted by the wavelength conversion member 4. The omnidirectional reflector 6 exhibits such reflectiveness as reflecting the remaining portion of the primary light substantially totally and returning it to the wavelength conversion member 4 for any incident angle and polarization. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
