<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the coating work of a conductor without lowering a withstanding voltage, and to shorten an insulating distance. <P>SOLUTION: A support insulator 1 has a support section 11 for supporting an insulated conductor 10, a frame 12 for sandwiching the insulated conductor 10 together with the support section, and a fixing means (a bolt 13 and a nut 14) for fixing the frame 12 on the support section 11. The frame 12 is formed of epoxy resin, and the fixing means is formed of fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Grooves 16 and 17 retaining the insulated conductor 10 by pinching it are formed on the head 110 of the support section 11 and the frame 12. It is preferable that the grooves 16 and 17 are formed to enable to select the displacement of a primary plane of the insulated conductor 10 in either of horizontal and perpendicular directions. A projection 111 being a cross-sectional reverse trapezoidal shape in a width direction is formed on the upper surface of the support section 11, and a recessed section 121 fitted with the projection 111 is preferably formed on the lower surface of the frame 12.
