<p>Provided are a method for easily cutting an optical fiber on site to have the cut end surface inclined from the optical axis, a cutting apparatus used in such method and a connector assembly method including such cutting method. In the cutting method, a portion including a cutting position of the optical fiber composed of a glass fiber and a coat is twisted, and the coat and the glass fiber is cut at the cutting position. Then, an external force is applied to the optical fiber at the cutting position and the optical fiber is cut. The optical fiber cutting apparatus is provided with an optical fiber fixing means for fixing the optical fiber on one side of the optical fiber by sandwiching the cutting position, an optical fiber rotating means for fixing the optical fiber on the other side to be freely rotated, and a blade for cutting the coat and the glass fiber. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009</p> |
