PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform properly running-in of a gear pump by judging the end of run-in accurately. SOLUTION: An oil tank is connected with the suction port of the gear pump while a pressure regulating valve is connected with the discharge pump, and the gear pump is driven by a motor to perform run-in. At this time, the discharge pressure is adjusted in conformity to a run-in pattern A having a constant period, and the peak value Tp of the drive torque T in each period is monitored. When proceeding of the run-in (machining) causes the drive torque T to decrease and the changeΔTp of the drive torque Tp in each period becomes the reference value or below, the run-in operation is ended.
