PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stepladder which is positively prevented from overturning, and can be set on an inclined place such as steps. SOLUTION: The stepladder is a foldable one formed of a pair of ladder portions 1, 1 each consisting of two longitudinal members 2, 2, and a plurality of rungs 3, 3, etc. erected between the longitudinal members 2, 2, and set up by pivotally connecting between tops of the pairing ladder portions 1, 1. Each longitudinal member 2 has cylindrical storage portions 5, 6 on a side surface along the longitudinal member 2, and an upper strut member 7 extending upward is stored in the storage portion 5 while a lower strut member 8 extending downward is stored in the storage portion 6, respectively. The upper strut member 7 and the lower strut member 8 of the longitudinal members 2, 2 opposed to each other are reversely arranged to each other so as to intersect the mutually opposed upper strut members 7, 7 on an upper location. Further an upper edge of each upper strut member 7 has, connected thereto, a pressing portion 9 for butting against a slab or a beam of a structure and pressing the same from below, by means of a pin 11, while a lower edge of the lower strut member 8 has, connected thereto, a pressing portion 10 for butting against a floor surface and pressing the same from above, by means of a pin 12.
