PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-absorbing polymer exhibiting improved productivity, while maintaining its shape and performance. SOLUTION: The method for producing a water-absorbing polymer comprising polymerizing a monomer component including an acid group-bearing water-soluble vinyl monomer is provided. Specifically, the method comprises the following process: part of the acid group-bearing water-soluble vinyl monomer is preneutralized with an alkali agent, a suspension polymerization is then carried out in a solvent, and the alkali agent is further added to the resultant polymer to effect postneutralization.
