A container 4 for laboratory use, e.g. for containing blood for sedimentation tests, includes a closure having a pierceable middle part 5. When the middle part 5 is pierced by a sedimentation tube or a pipette, the tapered part 6 forms a seal around the tube or pipette, and fluid in the container is forced into the tube or pipette so that the test may be performed. The container may be of plastics material and as shown, the part 1 of the container having a thin wall so that this part 1 may be squeezed to adjust the height of fluid in the tube or pipette, the lower inner diameter 3 of the container closely conforming to the lower end of the tube or pipette. |
