摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for motion tracking highly precisely performing a calibration step for providing data related to orientation of orientation measurement units on body portions and relative proportions between the body portions constituting a continuous body being interconnected by joints. <P>SOLUTION: This system for tracking movement of an object in a three-dimensional space, which is composed of a plurality of object portions having individual dimensions and relative proportions and being sequentially interconnected by joints, is provided with: orientation measurement units for measuring data related to orientation of the object portions, wherein the orientation measurement units are arranged in positional and orientational relationships with respective object portions having orientational parameters; and a processor having a module for deriving orientation and/or position information of the object portions using data received from the orientation measurement units, and a calibration unit arranged to calculate calibration values based on received data and predetermined restriction for determining the mutual proportions of the object portions and orientational parameters of the orientation measurement units based on received data, predetermined restriction and additional input data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
