PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to view a video image immediately on the set time. SOLUTION: The television comprises a means for setting at least a viewing start time based on an external designation, and a picture/sound control means for starting reception of a broadcast signal and extraction of a sound signal by starting a power supply a predetermined time before the set time, displaying a predetermined mute image on the display and muting the sound, and starting video image output based on the video signal and sound output based on the sound signal by releasing the display of mute image and the silence state at the set time.
