The present invention relates to an EGR system for a combustion engine. The EGR systemcomprises a first EGR circuit itself comprising a return line (8) which extends between the exhaust line (3) and the inlet line (6), and an EGR valve (9) arranged in the return line (8) for controlling a recirculation of exhaust gases from the exhaust line (3) to the inlet line (6). The EGR system comprises a second EGR circuit itself comprisingan accumulator tank (12) adapted to containing exhaust gases, an exhaust gas passage (13) connecting the accumulator tank (12) to a cylinder (2) of the combustion engine (1), and at least one valve means (13a) adapted to controlling a flow ofexhaust gases in the exhaust gas passage (13) between the cylinder (2) and the accumulator tank (12). The EGR system also comprises a control unit (10) adapted to controlling the first EGR circuit and the second EGR circuit in such a way that they together recirculate a desired amount of exhaust gases to the cylinder (2).
