PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding technique capable of molding a thermoplastic material with a desired size into a desired shape. SOLUTION: A softened glass block 10 is thrown into a cup-shaped mold 110 in which a side wall section 111 functioning as a molding surface 111a is united with a bottom part 112 with a shape of a grinding bowl and a diameter-reduced section 113 is founded in an aperture part 114. Then, the molding tool is rotated by a rotating mechanism 120 to cause the softened glass block 10 to move by rolling on the molding surface 111a, thus molding the glass block into a spherical glass ball 11.
