<p>An apparatus for the flocculation of solid particles in a solid-liquid stream including an enclosure, an upwardly converging flow diverter defining a first zone and a second zone within the enclosure, and a solid-liquid stream inlet into the first zone of the enclosure at or towards the bottom of the first zone in proximity to the lower region of the flow diverter, the upwardly converging flow diverter having an upper opening for fluid communication between the first zone and the second zone. The apparatus is preferably a feedwell for a separation device for separating solid particles from a liquid in a solid-liquid stream.</p> |
