摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration control method and a vibration control device for a vertically-long towering structure such as an iron tower and an illumination column. <P>SOLUTION: In this vibration control method for a towering member, the vibration control device is mounted at the upper end of the towering member for controlling vibrations. The vibration control device is a member, the supporting point of which is a mounting location and which can be dynamically substituted with a simple pendulum, for example, an umbrella member with an opened bottom. A top portion of the vibration control device is provided with an opening which allows the insertion of the towering member for controlling the vibrations, and an annular rotational mechanism which is mounted on the outer peripheral portion of the opening, which enables the umbrella member to rotate on the center of the member axis of the towering member and which enables a dynamic simple-pendulum motion to be made around the top portion as the supporting point.
