OPTICAL MEDIUM RECOGNITION SYSTEM AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical medium with which time necessary for an optical drive to recognize the kind of the inserted optical medium can be reduced.

SOLUTION: The optical medium 14 has: a data layer 40 provided on the optical medium 14 and storing data which can be read by a first laser; and an embedded-identification-information storage region disposed on the optical medium 14 and storing embedded identification information 38 which can be read by both of the first and a second lasers having wavelengths different from each other. The embedded identification information 38 identifies the optical medium associated with the first laser.
