A positive active material for lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same are provided to improve high effective charging/discharging characteristic and lifetime property of the lithium secondary battery. A positive active material for lithium secondary battery has a nanowire shape and contains a lithium composite metal oxide capable of performing intercalation and deintercalation of the lithium. The lithium composite metal oxide is a lithium metal phosphate which is shown in the following chemical formula (LixMyM'zPO4-wBw), wherein M and M' are an element selected from a group consisting of Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Zr, Nb, Cu, V, Mo, Ti, Zn, Al, Ga, Mg, B and their combination; B is the element selected from the group consisting of F, and S and their combination; and 0<x<=1, 0<y<=1, 0<z<=1, 0<x+y+z<=2 and 0<=w<=0.5. |
