PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image reproduction apparatus capable of efficiently achieving high-speed reproduction for variable-length compressed video and audio data. SOLUTION: When multiplexing and recording compressed video or audio data on a disk or a semiconductor memory, in the case that a group of leading positions of packets, records and a plurality of frames is defined as a GOP, a management file is created by collecting ending positions of at least one or more intra-frame coded frames or ending positions of at least one or more forward prediction coded frames for each GOP, and recorded on the medium separately from the multiplexed data. The multiplexed data are read out by designating disk read starting and ending positions by referring to the management file, and high-speed reproduction is performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
