The invention relates to a method and a device for producing book covers for individual books of different format sizes. According to the invention, the data of the book to be bound are acquired by means of a software and cat alogued, the book covers are cut to the desired format, a cover material ada pted to said format is applied to the book cover, the corners are turned in, the interior fittings are applied to the book covers and the text block and the book cover are interlinked in a precise position.
