PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear unit in a printer enabling improvement of assembling properties and maintenance work performance of a drive section for conveying a printing paper sheet along with printing and particularly facilitating assembly, replacement or maintenance operation of a platen roller or a conveyance roller. SOLUTION: In order to form a unit configured of a belt group 18 and a gear group 19 independently from a frame of the printer, a unit bracket 16 is provided for enabling removable installation to a printer bracket independently from the printer bracket. A drive motor 17, the belt group 18 and the gear group 19 are assembled with the unit bracket 16. When the unit bracket 16 is attached to the printer bracket, a platen roller gear of the platen roller, a conveyance roller gear of the conveyance roller and the gear group 19 are configured to be engaged with each other.
